WAHOO!! I’m back! Today we’re going to talk about one of my favorite but least favorite topics. COMPARISON. We all have heard the saying “comparison Is the Thief of joy” which is true because it’s in the BIBLE HELLOOOOOO! But anyways, in my reading this morning it was about comparison and wanting to be someone else and not feeling right in your own skin and I just wanted to go more In depth with that because ya girl has a lot of experience with this subject OKUURRTT! (haha I’ll never do that again I promise) let’s get to it! The reading started off by saying “when we act like someone we’re not, it’s because we’re not happy with who we are. We usually think we need other people’s permission or love or approval before we can live our lives and pursue our beautiful ambitions.” And let me tell ya I had to do a double take!! God gave me exactly what I needed to hear this morning. Let me break it down for ya. We have those moments of discouragement whether it was stemmed from social media or just flat out hating yourself and who you are. We’ve all been there, heck I’ll admit mine stems from social media and it could get real bad. Here’s the thing with social media, life looks perfect on it so it’s not always real. That’s the thing that annoys me the most about media sites, they only show you/ post the things that look good. I know you’ve heard that saying before but to me it just gets me so fired up with the truth that I want to speak because while there are people posting their best moments, we have girls (and guys) comparing their lives to others and wishing they were them and wishing they were as popular or as influential or as loved as they are. I’m not saying that you can’t post on social media, but I am saying that all of this comparison stems from within, not a source such as social media, but more so who you’re rooted in. Christ? Or yourself? “it’s bad if we miss out on who God uniquely made us to be so we can be who someone else thinks we should be.” Y’all. I don’t think we truly understand just how unique and creative the Lord made each of us IN HIS IMAGE!! He gave each of us our own sole purpose to fulfill that no one else can. So while we’re comparing ourselves, wishing we were one another, we’re missing out on the person the Lord created us to be! You’ll never know who YOU are If you are always someone else and that’s a big FACT. Put It into perspective here, “God has never looked in your mirror or mine and wished He saw someone else.” So when we look In our mirror and wish we were someone else, how does that make God feel? I bet if we could hear what He’s thinking, we’d hear Him whispering, “You’ve got this. Just keep moving toward Me.” And that is so comforting to know, the Lord will still and always love us, despite of us. With all of this being said, I have a challenge for y’all! Trade the appearance of being close to God for the power of actually being close to God. Quit talking a big game and go live a big faith. Ephesians 4:1 Colossians 1:16 1 Corinthians 15:57 Philippians 2:6 Love God, love the people around you, love yourself. Stay blessed, YOU are his beloved ✌🏽
